Silverstone 10k

The Silverstone Grand Prix 10K race is held each spring (early May) on the Silverstone Race Circuit. This has more participants that any other 10k road race in the Midlands, with regularly more than 1,000 entrants. 2017 saw the 34th year of the Silverstone Grand Prix 10K race. Since 1984 the race has been the first race of the East Midlands Grand Prix (EMGP) series of 8 midweek races. The route is the former grand prix circuit (now known as the Bridge Circuit) starting on the main grid and finishing in the Pit Lane. The event is also open to wheelchair & handcycle competitors.

Unfortunately, hosting this marvelous event comes at a price and as Silson’s only real source of income during the year - income which is used to train the club’s coaches, hire training venues, provide training to adult (aged 16+) and junior members (aged 8 -15)  almost for free, transport and entries to various races and athletics events for its members and so much more – Silson need to keep their costs as low as possible without compromising on the quality of their event.

Fortunately for Silson, Whittlebury Hall have been incredibly generous in sponsoring the 10K event, not just this year but for a whopping seven years.  This year they have sponsored the 2018 finishers medals, which are amazing and well worth running the 10k distance for!

Whittlebury Hall’s support and sponsorship is invaluable and very much appreciated by Silson AC and all its members, it literally helps towards keeping the club running (no pun intended)!  A local business supporting a local running club.

Thank you Whittlebury Hall!

Marc Webster, Commercial Director for Whittlebury Hall & Spa commented, “We are proud of the relationships which we have established with Silson AC and other organisations within the local community over the years.  It is great to be part of events such as the Silverstone Grand Prix 10k. Good luck to all of those running, including our own team.”
