Back of House Operative (Kitchen)

To ensure fork lift, garage, tables, loading bay, goods in and bins are well maintained and cleaned at all times. Ensuring the back of house areas are tidy.

MAIN OBJECTIVES & JOB ROLE:

To ensure fork lift, garage, tables, loading bay, goods in and bins are well maintained and cleaned at all times. Ensuring the back of house areas are tidy. To communicate and coordinate with the maintenance department regarding repairs, disposal of non repairable equipment ensure the area is clean at all times.

MAIN AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in all back-of-house areas and parking area
  • Complete & record the FLT operators safety checks daily, reporting any failures or concerns to the head chef
  • Liaise with the waste removal contractors for the collection all waste & recyclable material
  • Ensure all bins are clean and returned to their place once washed
  • Ensure areas surrounding the back of house are clean and safe, walk ways clear, dry & free from obstructions
  • Ensure the parking area is checked daily checking  that the bins and parking bays are clear of rubbish,  including the areas around trees and bushes
  • Ensure the garage, loading bay and goods in are always organised and clean
  • Ensure the tables are stored away safely in their place and fit for purpose
  • Ensure floor areas in the back of house are kept clean
  • Communicate and coordinate with the maintenance department regarding repairs, discard items and recycle items in the delivery area to keep the area clear and tidy
  • Report any issues to the Head Chef immediately
  • Attend training sessions as requested by the Head Chef
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out within the legislative requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Adhere to manual handling regulations when carrying out any tasks which involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and tasks of a repetitive nature
  • Support goods-in with accepting of deliveries as & when required
  • Adhere to the regulations in the Fire Precautions Act 1971
