Sales Office Manager shortlisted for national award …

Whittlebury Hall Conference & Training Centre and Hotel’s Sam Smith, is in the running for a top industry award.

The Sales Office Manager has been shortlisted for the prestigious miaList 2014 award.

The miaList is aimed at recognising exceptional individuals from the meetings, hospitality and events industry. The Meetings Industry Association’s list celebrates the talents of those individuals that really make a difference to the industry, their own organisation and their customers and singles them out as examples of excellence.

Sam joined Whittlebury Hall in 2009 after graduating in Event Management. Since then she has been awarded the Employee of the Year accolade and her accelerated progression has led to two promotions in 2013, going from supervising a team of five to managing a team of 18.

Sam, alongside other individuals who have been shortlisted for the awards, recently attended a judging lunch in January, where each nominee was meet and interviewed by the judging panel.

Sam said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised by my employers, my customers and the industry I work in. I’m really pleased to have been nominated and be on the shortlist for this prestigious accolade.”

To make it through to the shortlist, nominees have to demonstrate a range of skills and qualities including:

- Seek new ways to improve the operation, including cost saving methods and opportunities to increase revenue
- Keep their organisation one step ahead of the competition
- Demonstrate a commitment to improving guest experience
- A continual source of support to their team and colleagues
- Creative problem solving or dealing with unexpected situations
