Whittlebury Hall Hotel, Conference and Training Centre have been crowned regional winners at the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce Awards 2012 securing the Sustainability Award after making moves to ‘become one of the greenest hotels and conference centres in the UK’.
Some of the eco-friendly measures already introduced include power-off master switches, smart meter programming for the gas boilers, an energy efficient laundry machine.
The hotel is also fully committed to recycling all glass, office paper, waste, plastics and, through an onsite bailing machine, card waste. This waste management system has reduced costs but achieving zero waste to landfill is the biggest achievement so far.
Michael Stott, Director at Whittlebury Hall, said "The team has worked hard to make these changes and these efforts being recognised by the British Chambers of Commerce is excellent news for our staff, customers and suppliers. Even more importantly, the environment will benefit as we continue to make our business even more sustainable.”
